Naxos

Not worth visiting!

Good surfing - but look out for the reef!

Just south of the city there is a natural lagune, where you can rent a surf board. Some years sinch I’v been there but then it was run by Germans with All new equipment.

At the outer boundry of the lagune there is a reef – do not fall of your board like I did and steped on a “porky pine” I stil have leftovers in my foot! (4-5 years ago)

Bring your own trapeze (valid all over Greece)

Hydra

Very, very warm

We came in to Idra after a day of sailing (11 hrs by motor – no wind), and it was hot – damn hot. By the time we arrived – about 18.00 – the temperature was above 42 degrees C, and the humidity was extrem. In side the boat it was unbearable!

The water temp passed 32 deg C – and now wind.

Lovely place though very different architec. from the Cyclades white’n blue. More Italien with brick houses and red rooftops.

Do the walk - the walk of life

Try the Kamira ravine walk! Make sure you get on the earliest bus – then RUN ahead of the pack of people – and you’ll get a peacefull lovely trip. The quiet, the sound of rocks falling, the suppricing view around the next corner; rocks? flowers? (rodhodendron), green or rocky? Wide or narrow (2 meters wide on the most narrow)

At the end of the ravine ther is if you have walked fast enough, a small town where you can buy lunch, take a bath and wait in the sun for the ferry back to the bus.

I loved it – My favorit hick ever!

Mykonos

Worth visiting!

Third time lucky?

Twice have I been on or close to Mykonos; First time sailing we vere caught by a sudden storm; 20 minutes from dead calm to full storm! Had to seek emergency harbour in the south of Mykonos but never came ashore. Considering we had a 40 foot sailracer with T-keel we spendt the night “chasing” on anchor – NOT much fun when you are anchored between boats costing millions.

Second time we came in the new harbour just to refuel Diesel. Not much to see there – and to lng to walk in/up to the city.

Maybe next time I’ll see what the fuzz is about?

Santorini

Worth visiting!

Spend the day traveling all over!

I started the day with a morning bath on the stony beach of Kamira, the picked up my scooter for the day and drove up to the old Thira (Messa Vouno) – eating breakfast overlooking Kamari on one side and Perissa on the other (bumpy road up from Kamari – can be don on a scooter, but hold on to your hat!).

Spendt the day avoiding masses of people and the biggest city (Fira) but seeing everything else. Lunch on Monolithos beach (in the middel)

Take a bath at the fishing village of Ammoudi – walk out by the cliffs – bring flippers and mask!.

Finaly I had dinner in Ia up north, and watched the sun setting in the sea. Then I discovered what poor lighting ther is on a scooter on my way back…......

Last time I lived for a feve days in/near old Athes – Plaka – which has pedestrian streets just below Olympia, filled with shops and restaurants. Not too expencive, but…

Stavanger

Worth visiting!

Stavanger - Oil capitol of Norway

I’ve lived in Stavanger area for a suprisingly number of years, The place I’ve lived the longest! (total of 16 years). First 9 yeast as a kid, then after education back for work in the oil industry for 7 years (though some periods spent commuting abroad).

Rai, wind, “warm” in winter and cold in summer – but e.g. october storms can be extreeme. Snow does occure in winter, and warm periods in summer but you have to take is as it comes. Buy an all weather jacket and you’ll be OK.

Nivå

Not worth visiting!

Untitled

Just south of Humlebæk and 25 km north of Copenhagen – up the coast – is Nivå. A small place with few sights for tourists, but a nice place to live. Nice beach for children and a good harbour for smaller boats. Active windsurfing, waterskii and rowing clubs.

Prekestolen

Worth visiting!

A geological anomali, should have fallen down a long time ago! The Lysefjord area was full of similare blocks of rock – all the others have fallen down.

Worth the “climbe” but rather tough if you are not used to mounten hickes. Not as long a hick as Kjaerag (further in the same fjord. Exciting sitting dangeling with your feet some 597 meters above the fjord (sea).
“One of Norway’s major tourist attractions.
Heigh above sea level 597 m. A magnificent sight from the ferry deck.”

Placed in Lysefjorden:
“One of Norway’s wildest and most beautiful fjords. A threshold fjord, only 13 m deep at the mouth of the fjord. Up to 457 m deep. 42 km long.”
