So my usual rule with 43 places is that I have to have spent the night to make it legit.

I was thinking about Idaho, though, and although I may never have spent the night, I’m pretty up there in terms of hours I’ve spent there – easily more than 24 total, and probably more like 72. In terms of people who visit often but don’t live there, I’m big.

So I’m going to consider it visited. But for the rest of the places, the overnight rule still counts.

Boulder’s going to be nice, but the real goal is to visit DIA, and cross this state off my list. I find it funny that being a west coaster, I’ve never actually been there yet.

I’m glad I got to see it, and I’m much more okay with Texas after having been there. But I think I’d be hard pressed finding a reason to go again.

I’d been pretty excited to come across this one afternoon when exploring. It’s kind of unfortunately sited, though; you approach from the rear, and never really get to see the facade that makes it different than other stores. And on the inside, it’s standard publix. So for most people, the experience is pretty banal.

But it looks nice in pictures.

The town is famous for being the original Main Street, and can evoke pangs of regret in anyone who’s left a small town for a big town – exactly the regret that informed many of Lewis’ novels.

The economics of America have made Main Street all the more interesting, as one reaches Sauk Centre by freeway now – one exit is historic, and bucolic, (as a road leading from a freeway can be) the other is clustered with gas stations and motels (I don’t think there’s a wal-mart. Very fitting.

The city is absurdly clean. I know that that’s all you hear about it, but it’s really pretty amazing.

So everyone’s like, “You’ve gotta see the 7-mile bridge!” And sure, it seems like an amazing feat. Until you realize that the water is about 3 feet deep. Go Florida!

There are plenty of places to learn about the Galapagos, so there’s really no need to go into what makes them unique. They are a more desolate and rugged place than you might expect, which is perhaps what makes them such an incredible place.
