You have to hit Beale Street, start off around 4pm, and them make a night of it. Amazing atmosphere, a bit of a tourist haunt, can be a lil corn ball-y but its totally worth it. So is Graceland, just do the quickie tour. Its remarkable how unremarkable the mansion is.

All the above answers are right on, you can definetly see a chunk of the city in six hours, and the train station is surrounded by cafe’s, the Vang Gough Museum is 15 minutes outside of the central town. My only advise is make sure that you have a map. Amsterdam is easily the most confusing place I have ever been too. Spent most of my time wondering around lost.

Take a walk through George Washington Park or the Duck boats. Have a drink in Harvard Square, hit Faniel Hall (sp) go to the top of the Hancock or Prudential building (I forget the name of it but look for the tallest sky scraper) you can take a trolly and do the Liberty tour. Go to the North End for great eats. Oh and check out Beacon Hill!

We deoarted out of Bari, terrible town but the trainstation does have a bar for boredom. I will say that we had perhaps the most horrific ferry ride ever on the way back so be weary of the cheap tickets. We were sleeping upright in a room with plastic floors right next to the casino in a 25f room with no hope of escape. It might have been the most miserable 8 hours of my life.
