Stayed here for about 4 days back in April 07.. It was really beautiful.. We stayed at the Rimba Resort which is a really laid back place with African inspired huts (No doors and windows though, just tarp flaps!) and amazing 4 course meals each day either in the small restaurant or out on the deck of the awesomely chilled out bar. Our bartender for the nights we were there was Carlee who makes a mean Perky Nana. The beach is really amazing although the tide goes out all the way back, but is usually in by mid afternoon. Didn’t actually have a problem with sand flies although the mosquitoes can get on some peoples nerves – repellent suggested but mosquito nets are provided.
There’s a really good diving point off a dug out rock face close to the shore where you can see loads of live coral and plenty of fish if you decide to go snorkeling (The gear is already there so no need to take your own). The beach can be a little stony on this side of the island but a short trek through the jungle will take you to the other side to near the Sea Gypsy Resort where the beach is all white sand although slightly more touristy – good if you’re looking for a change of scenery and to meet some new people :)
