Hong Kong

(in China)

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Hong Kong: Really loved it!

Hong Kong, from day to night, it’s bursting with life, as the sun goes down everything lights up and the place is one big party.

From shopping, history, museums, theme parks, beaches, temples, restaurants, they have it all. It’s a little wonderland of everything, from great food, cheap electronics and to the amazing commute system that had my jaw dropping on my first day. It is an urban paradise.

I would surely want to go back…

Puerto Princesa

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Puerto Princesa: The Largest City in the Philippines

claimed to be the largest city in the philippines, home of the Vietnamese Village, various seafood restaurants (go to Kalui’s their sizzling sisig, buko shake, and prawns are delicious), Kamarikutan Kafi and Art Gallery, the Palawan Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Binuatan Creations and weavings, Iwahig Prison, Ramon Mitra’s Ranch House and View Deck, and a short boat ride to Honda Bay. Still a developing city filled with trees and the umistakable mountains at the distance, it’s a place to enjoy, relax, and of course, my favorite, to beach hop!

Palawan

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Palawan: The Last Frontier

The Last Frontier is right. I was at the plane awaiting plains and smooth land but to be jolted by rocky, green, mountain ridges and scattered islands all around.

Palawan consists of 1780 islands (almost 25% of the Philippines’ islands) where the 80 are luli (lulubog-lilitaw) (now you see it, now you don’t) islands.

Famous for mangoes, cashews, and their fish, palawan thrives mostly on agriculture and tourism as their main source of income, no taxis or luxury cars, but mostly tricycles (taxicles)/jeeps/heavy duty off-road vans, trucks as means of transportation.

Now we go to the exciting part of Palawan, smacked in the middle of the island is the city of Puerto Princesa, the largest city in the Philippines (so as mr. tour guide said), here you find the various tourist spots: Honda Bay (with various beaches and snorkeling sites), Vietnamese Village (don’t foget to try their french bread, beef stew noodles and halohalo), Palawan Wildlife and Rehabilitation center (see the crocodiles and other animal and plant life here), Binuatan Creations (for coloful dyed weavings, table runners and placemats), Kamarikutan Kafi and Art Gallery (see the works of Palawenyo artists),
from Puerto Princessa is also a 2 and a half hour drive(bumpy roads ho!) to the town of Sabang (still in Puerto Princesa City), along the way you see mountains formed with limestone and marble, the ulugan bay, and the others, I’d let you go find out yourself…

In Sabang you’ll find also beach resorts, sand as fine as powder that can rival Boracay’s sand (not as white), clear seas, and of course, boats leading to the Underground River.

So far, this is my first trip there, But I’d would definitely love to come back and see more of Palawan’s wonders.

Cebu

Worth visiting!

Cebu: Where Catholicism started.

One of the developed cities around the VisMin Area. Cebu is a bustling place of business and retail. But what’s fun is the beaches scattered around the various cities that are a mere 30 minutes away from the urban area.

Cebu is the center of christianity and also where Magellan first set foot in the Philippines. A church i’ve been to here is Sacred heart (see picture).

Food here is extremely tasty, but take note to eat in moderation. They specialize dried mangoes, lechon (roast suckling pig), chicharon (deep fried seasoned pork rinds), the different inihaws (grill) like chicken, Ngohiong (A surprise delicacy you should try ;)) and puso (rice cooked in tightly woven leaves).

In case you get tired of Cebu, Neighboring islands like Bohol, Siquijor, and the Camotes group of islands (see Camotes Island here) are nearby to be explored.

All in all Cebu is a must go. Especially while youre in the Philippines :D

Camotes Island

Camotes Island: the land of Potatoes

A semi-remote island near the coast of Cebu, it provides a nice away-from-it-all feel if you want the escape from the hustle and bustle of the crowded beaches.

Here is Mangodlong Beach Resort in San Fransisco, Camotes. A little strip of sand and the high rock formation that rests a few cottages and the stretch of sea makes it a pretty picture.

Aside from beaches, Camotes island is also known for the Lake Danao, Green Lake Park and the Bukilat Cave…

The only way to get there is a 2 hour boat ride from Danao City, Cebu. You’ll see people shuttling back and forth from Cebu to the island, carrying goods and other products from the mainland.

In my opinion, my trip to Camotes was well worth it, and maybe I’ll come back to explore the things I’ve missed.

Shanghai

(in China)

Worth visiting!

Shanghai: The Paris of the East

Sophisticated Shanghai, rich in culture, fashion, and art. It shows the slice of the old and the new in between the Huangpu river.

Here is Yuyuan Garden. It was supposed to be a gift to the emperor. A park with carved, restored, ancient structures, beautiful foiliage, a coy-filled pond, various stores, and the most delcious xiao long bao that if you take it to go, you get it at half the price :)

Ive been to Shanghai and Xiamen, and it was not a disappointment, each place was filled with so much culture that is intertwined with the present. Still retainings its original oriental beauty.

Boracay

Worth visiting!

Boracay: Island Paradise of the Philippines

several kilometers graced with pure-white powder sand and the sparkling clear sea is my first impression when I neared island. A summer getaway to party, to kick back, and to relax. Filled with beautiful people, the yummiest food, and the most gorgeous sunset by the sea.
