is a sometime somnambulist

no kidding. i suppose it got more developed than years ago but it has its charms. the excitement builds as you drive down from norfolk – ‘we don’t drink, we don’t smoke, nofck, norfuk!’ – and start getting into the outer banks. i used to drive down from dc to go deep sea fishing out of oregon inlet. also hang gliding at kitty hawk. manteo is real nice. treat yourself to bubba’s bbq further down towards ocracoke.

it’s a nice place that’s a bridge away from the sand. went to a historic garden and shot a grape arbour that must have been 100 years old.

used to go to bubbas bbq on the way down from oregon inlet where we’d take off tuna fishing. loved the series of ferrys to get there. i’m a barrier island kinda guy. ocrakoke is seafaring history and so very special (in a good way).

espanola is NM – all the joy and the pain. don’t just spend your money in santa fe and taos. support this town.

remarkably beautiful alpine area overlooking the west. try the road down the mountain and then into white sands for as drastic a natural transition as there is.

pure magic till dawn

it might turn into another santa fe before long. already moving in that direction, can’t stop progress(?). maybe they can straighten the Rio and make the road wider?

go for it if it’s your first time or you swoon for a sanitized cultural experience. not jaded, but sf has been turning into a mall for 20 years. excellent museums some respite here and there but look up or down the road for new mexico as it can be.

what can i say? i used to work there. now, most everyone i know who used to live there has moved elsewhere in the state.

loved it and may move back. went back recently to see friends, eat and fish. mission accomplished. going back soon.

love places like this; remote, the sea, rocky, meadows, fishing boats, fish, pubs, hard men and harder women. went with my girlfriend from glasgow whose brother operated a salmon farm. mom lived in stromness. good wiskey, good people.
