It is nice for a short visit. The Campus has a beautiful bike path; East Lansing old homes are quaint to see and they have fantastic horticulture program here. Beautiful to see the handiwork.

Good “By Hand” car wash on the way to downtown area near the university.

Otherwise, the middle of the state is a barren, boring area. Dull. It is quiet if you have to go to school here.

Athena’s size was impressive. ...fun if you are into history/archeology.

This quaint little town is where Steel Magnolias (Julia Roberts) was filmed.

It has a terrific little book store, among my favorite finds in America. Eclectic & if I remember right, they have a cat that lives in the store.

The experience of waking early in the morning and grabbing a beignet is a tradition. Great while the dew or fog is still clinging to the air. Coffee has chicory in it, quite different than most Americans are used to, ..it’s a great experience.

I ran into a barista who worked here for a few years in London. He works in London now! Unbelievable that I ran into him.

It is worth going to; but it is a bit difficult to get in. You have to know someone who is a member (usually oil magnets, membership is now only inherited, cannot be bought, so I’ve heard). Very old & stuffy, very ‘Dallas’ But admittedly, excellent food.

It was an experience! I went with another widow. She was a dear.

I think the show ‘Dallas’ was based around this place (I was a bit young!). I alsor found online conspiracy theorists say that it was the Petroleum Club who arranged the assassination of JFK. When I was there, the ultra conservative Dallas Republicans were mocking the Democrats. Ironically, the Kennedy’s were having a wedding reception in the banquet facility section of the club. Irony! ..It was interesting watching the snub, yet polite, interaction between parties.

Food and atmosphere were what you would think, while also rather busy, and exquisite.
