I took a taxi and spent the day here while visiting a relative living in Sao Paulo and we had a lovely time. It was August when I visited (so it was not the usual time to visit Santos) and I went swiming in the ocean, and was the only person braving the waters on that off season day (it felt warm to this Chicagoan), it is a lovely sea-side town and I would happily visit again, even in August.

when you’ve spent as much time sitting in it as I have, the airport feels to me to be both my portal and barrier to the outside world, when it lets me leave Chicago I’m overjoyed, but all to often it likes to mock and threaten me for a bit first and on a couple of occasions has threated to send me back to the “L” to go home in defeat. I have a hate/love relationship with O’Hare, more hate than love.

I lived here for a few months, nice suburban type town, not really a vacation destination though. Great high street.

Since I’m sure that somehow my taxes are paying for it. A few years too late it has finally come about, and I think it is actually worth the wait (not so sure about the price tag though). Skating in the winter on Michigan Ave. is quite fun, and the Park Grill offers lovely appetizers and drinks on the patio in the summer …. of course there was the typical corruption surrounding its opening, apparently the well connected owners didn’t pay property taxes for for utilities for a bit too long, but that didn’t affect the quality of their ceviche, which is indeed excellent. Cloud Gate is a fun scuplture and Crown Fountain makes almost anyone want to take off his or her shoes and start to splash around (I know I have). So please come to my fair city and enjoy our park, and spend lots of money, we have to pay for the thing ;)

What more could you want.

I almost drowned swiming in the Eisbach ‘river’, be careful (that people surf in, really, there is a munich surfing scene) and took a drunken bike ride around the city. The art museums are wonderful, especially the Lenbachhaus (for Der Blaue Reiter collection). Don’t bother with the Hofbräuhaus, there are other bars.

Okay, IU is a great school, and Bloomington is a cute town, too bad it is in the middle of stinking nowhere, close to no real cities (Indianapolis does not count). That being said, I spent a few years there in school and had a good experience, but I haven’t been back since, and don’t intend to go back.

then check it out. I grew up swimming on some of these beaches and climbing the dunes. It is a great little beach for those who live in northwest Indiana or the south-side or south burbs of Chicago.

I spent the day on the island, and I wanted to like it, but I just didn’t, I found it far too quaint and the Grand Hotel was, well, not all that grand. It is a bit of a mystery to me as to why this place is so popular.

We took a carriage ride around the island, and the tour guide was a rather obnoxious teenage boy with a crude sense of humor, he would have been fun in a bar, but it wasn’t working for the tour.

I loved walking the promenade, and wandering around the neighborhood. I had breakfast at a lovely coffeeshop (I wish I could remember the name) in Brookyln Heights and stole a few pictures of myself on some of the stoops of what could easily be the home(s) of my dream. Lovely place.
