Hattiesburg

Worth visiting!

Untitled

This city is one of the centers for the Civil Rights Movement, so if that’s what you’re interested, you can’t pass Hattiesburg up.

Atlanta

Worth visiting!

The international food, the operahouse, everything about Atanta screams “big-city” for the South.

This place is worth passing through, for Birmingham or Mobile.

I’ve lived here for the past 8 years, finishing up school and such.

West Palm Beach

Not worth visiting!

Untitled

To be fair, I never saw the beach—just the city. I was stuck here for a theatre competition.

California

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I grew up in California, so I had the luxury of visiting the varied landscape of the state. From the wine-filled Napa Valley, to the Redwood-forested Eureka, to the tourist-packed LA, I’ve been around.

When I moved away, I told friends, I wouldn’t move back. Cali’s a great place to visit, but not where I want to live.

Wales

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I spent 2.5 months working at Coleg Y Bala, doing whatever they needed. While there, the people I worked with took me all over the countryside, and I saw a Wales that isn’t in the tour books. I’ve been to different parts of the “UK” and I love how none of them are the same.

Welsh culture is filled with music and stories and one of the most musical sounding languages in existence. For a more “Welsh” stay in Wales, stay in the Northwest, around Snowdon.

Worth visiting!

My roommate and I went during our Spring Break week from university. It just so happened to be St. Patrick’s Day as well, during the time we went. We aren’t big drinkers or partyers, so we visited all of the museums and castles around Dublin.

And we made it to the Blarney Stone by taking a bus from Dublin. A wonderful trip—she’s a good person to travel with.

How this place changed my life

Amsterdam is always associated with drugs and sex (at least in America) and I went, unsure of what to expect. But when you walk through the Anne Frank Huis, this city takes on a whole new dimension and a meaning for everything you ever learned in history class.

And with an easily navigatable train station, you can travel to anywhere else from here.

Definetely see Haarlem!

The first time I went to this place

I had arrived in Brussels at the tale-end of my Amsterdam-Haarlem-Brussels packed week of Fall holiday, and unfortunately, the train made me very sick. I arrived in Brussels and spent 15 hours trying to recover. I awoke at 6am on the day I was supposed to take a train out to Schipol at 9pm.

I packed my day with all of the guidebook sites, when I should have spent my entire day in their art museum. The guidebook called for 1 hour—and it was impossible to go through two different buildings and countless centuries of art in 1 hour.

I have to go back to make it up to Brussels, and to myself. But I did bring home plenty of chocolate as Christmas gifts, and I enjoyed a hot waffle from a vendor. :)
