I lived in Palmyra for several years. The biggest draw is the Mormon Pageant. They recently added a temple and the visitors center has been redone. It is definately worth visiting, even if you are not a member.

If you are interested in history, you will find signs with historic information all over the area including information on the Underground Railroad and Harriet Tubman.

This is one of the best places to go in the fall. They have a huge Grape Festival with wine tasting and more grape recipes than you can imagine. The food is great, the people are wonderful and the scenery is breath taking.

Words of advice:

- Be prepared to do a lot of walking.

- Flea Markets, craft sales and auction are every where.

- Take a good camera to capture the beauty.

- Take a map, as the roads wind in every direction.

- Be prepared to spend some time and book ahead if you are staying.

- Bring Cash!! Most of the people there during the Grape Festival do not accept checks, credit cards, etc. They are locals and from out of town. They prefer cash.

I just love Canadaigua. I’m very familiar with this area as I lived in Western NYS most of my life. Many shops on Main Street, lots of historic information, Sonnenburg Gardens is one of the main attractions.

Also a college town, concert hall and various tourist attractions. Definately worth looking into if you are in NYS and looking for a place to get away and relax.

Niagra Falls is beautiful all year round. The Light Festival is absolutely gorgeous and the water remains cold year round. Not exactly in expensive, but if you are near this makes a great day or weekend trip.
