Worth visiting!

the old and the new

Been here on a short business visit. Small China town, but would like to find out more of what the city has to offer, like old Montreal and other areas of interest. Any suggestions?

Worth visiting!

college town with lots of characters

With two universities and being the capital of Canada bordering two provinces. Ottawa certainly gets a lot of traffic here. My brother attended the University of Ottawa, and I’ve visited or pass through on family and business visits several times. Ottawa has a diverse population but a really sad china town in my opinion. You can find many types of restaurants there and the night life is abundant with the MarketPlace. There are also many tourist attractions. But one thing that stood out in my memory was the number of homeless roaming the streets. Much more than even Toronto.

North York

Worth visiting!

one of the fastest developing urban area

Many of my friends live in North York. It’s developing rapidly commercially with lots of condos shooting up the sky line. Very diverse in terms of ethnicity and a lot of interesting establishments, shopping, restaurants as a result.

It's a tranquil city.

I’ve been here only once for a summer job. We stayed in a hotel for 2 days that had a decent view of the ‘sleeping giant’. It is a sight to behold, but I don’t know for what other reason I would come back to this out of the way city. Might be good if you were trying to run away from the law? I know.. I’m too hard on the city.. but seriously, it’s nice.. I just don’t know if I want to go there again because of the long journey.

Timmins

Worth visiting!

Timmins is a nice little town for your retirement!

Provided you can stand the cold! It’s absolutely frigid there! -40 celsius with the wind child everyday in winter. My family immigrated to Canada, moved to Timmins and lived there in 1990 because we had relatives in the area. All the relatives have since moved on, but my parents are still live there. Timmins does not offer much in terms of urban entertainment, but you can’t beat the outdoor activities. True outdoor hockey weather, ice-fishing, hunting, snowmobiling. I lived there from 1990 to 1997. And I go back at least once a year for visits!

go for the deep dish pizza!

Didn’t see much of downtown, what I saw was nice, but not exciting compared to other U.S. cities. The subway is down right rank. But if you like italian food, you should visit Chicago!

Worth visiting!

quiet downtown

The downtown was very nice, but I guess all the software developers are busy doing overtime. It’s just dead when I was there! All that beauty and no time to appreciate it.

The city stinks of fertizlier smell during the spring, summer and fall. It is part of the snowbelt so winters are harsher than those in Toronto. It is part of the tri-city with Kitchener and Cambridge and is arguably the technology capital of Canada. Waterloo has many high-tech companies and 2 well known univerities, Wilfrid Laurier and Waterloo. I am an alumni of the University of Waterloo. There is one sushi place that is still a personal favourite of mine with their unique beef sashimi. I haven’t found it anywhere else.

Still around the area

I’ve lived here, and still am living near the edge of Scarborough/Markham. It’s very convienient for Chinese immigrants! It’s very much suburbia, so there’s not much of interest for visitors to enjoy.
