Since I spent a month in France I got a chance to get out of the tourist traps. But thing was I was there to learn french.
I seriously incourage you to use as much french as you can while there, even if that means taking three 20lb dictionaries!
The people there, especially in Paris tend to try and make your stay as comfertable as possible, if for you that is not exerting your brain at all and just relaxing in the spa all day, go ahead don’t bother with the french. But, if you are there to see the true side of France, and to truely understand it’s beauty, please I urge you to use french. Other wise it seems like a waste.
