Mittenwald, Bayern

Absolutely fantastic Sunday morning

Mittenwald is tiny. I spent a Sunday morning there, having coffee, parsing used book shops, and hiking in the countryside. The town is great, absolutely gorgeous, and not as touristy as its neighbor to the north, Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Illinois, United States

The Second City is definitely worth a trip!

Chicago is probably one of the most beautiful cities in America (even more beautiful than my beloved New York). The architecture is extremely interesting, more adventurous than many American cities, and its location right on Lake Michigan makes for one of the most gorgeous skylines I’ve ever seen. Chicagoans are extremely friendly and very proud of their city. It’s also very clean and welcoming. I like to go out to Oak Park and see Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses.

New York City, New York State

Live here. Love it.

What can I say about New York that hasn’t already been said by E.B. White or Peter De Vries or innumerable people who have loved this city and written about it?? Nothing really. So get a guidebook, some comfy tennis shoes, and come see why we all love it here. Have the pastrami on rye at Katz’s Deli or the cheesecake at Junior’s, make sure you have a bagel at some point, drink the tap water, figure out how to get to Carnegie…and go there, get lost in the Village, have a beer at the White Horse Tavern, take the Staten Island Ferry, go to Central Park…above 86th Street, go to the Cloisters…especially in fall, go to the Met and only pay $1.00 to get in, get a Metrocard and take the city busses….. I could go on and on. But you should come. And make your own list. And then tell others.
