The headwaters of the river Nile are at Jinja. Plenty of class 5 and class 4 rapids. Plenty of warm tropical pools in between (free of Hippos!!). Great place for whitewater rafting!

Litte town at the confluence of 3 rivers in Southern Karnataka. Decaying temples, crocodiles in the river, monsoon landscapes. Dodgy boats, if you are brave enough.

Little rural province in Northern Italy. Rarely visited by tourists. Great wine and landscapes around the Magredi. Smaller towns are the most interesting with atmospheric churches and talkative people in lonely coffee shops. Trieste is a kind of cultural frontier town – and one of Italy’s most underrated cities.

Beautiful Indian Ocean island of the Kenyan coast. Much underrated. If your considering a trip to Zanzibar, give Lamu a long hard look. Its a cheaper, prettier, less touristy alternative.

City in the sun. City with mysterious traffic jams. City of a 3 million different people. An intriguing place where you might be scared, but will never be bored.
