Edinburgh, Scotland

Untitled

Apart from Edinburgh being one of the most enjoyable places I’ve ever been, there’s a certain pub (Dirty Dick’s) on Rose Street that’s got some amazing bitters on tap. Well worth a visit.

Wengen, Canton of Berne

Untitled

Wengen is a small town half way up the side of a mountain! The views are amazing and the people are really friendly, much more than in Bern. I stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time, the train service is exceptional – reliable and comfortable – something that I can’t say about the trains in Britain.

Pretty much everyone here speaks English to some extent though you’ll always be better received if you attempt to speak in the local SweizeDeutch (spelling?!) or Swiss-German.

Chester, Cheshire

Untitled

I went to Uni here for 3 years and they were some of the best years of my life. Since then I’ve been back for numerous holidays and I usually stay in Pulford down on the Welsh border.

Chester itself is a lovely city which can easily be explored on foot, in fact driving in Chester (or more to the point, parking) can be a bit of a problem at times. It’s best to avoid Chester during the “Races” if you can as you won’t really see the true nature of the place as it’s far too busy to be able to relax and enjoy ther city at a slower, more natural place.
