Chamonix

Worth visiting!

Sharp, jagged mountain peaks!

Chamonix is a beautiful setting. Giant jagged peaks…and big tumbling glaciers so close to town. Chamonix town is quaint, just like an alpine village should be. It is just beautiful. The snowboarding is pretty neat too! My favorite resort area was Les Grand Montets….even though when we were there it was so cold that morning that I thought my toes were going to freeze off! Next time I want to go later in the season so that we can do the Vallee Blanche tour. Oh, and make sure and have a rental car…the resorts are spread out and standing outside waiting for the bus seems to be a drag!

Las Vegas

Worth visiting!

H4x0rz + Drinking = Good Times!

Let’s just say Las Vegas = DefCon (& sometimes BlackHat) and of course PoolCon. Tons of sun. Tons of drinking. Tons of fun. Maybe a little too hot in July…but hell that’s what the pool & AC is for. It’s a blast! But once a year is definitely enough.

Snowboarding!!

First lets just say that in 2005 they had tons of snow!! It snowed 18” one night while we were there, pow! pow!. We stayed at The Block(a snowboarders hotel), while the idea is neato (cheap beer on checkin, a place to wax your board, loud music & pool in the lobby) the standard rooms left a little to be desired…. Heavenly is not worth the money and too flat (walk 100 meters to lift sign) for snowboarding…too much traversing and skating. But, Kirkwood a short drive away has awesome terrain. It rocked hard!
