There’s somethin about the town of erath.. located between abbeville and new iberia that rings true. the people are friendly, the area beautiful, and the food fantastic. there might be a few things that are different from my normal view of the city.. you see the city folk have been by after a visit from the storm surge of rita.. i just hope being on cnn wont go to our heads.

on friday nites in the fall there are the Erath Bobcats to support. There is a great spirit that goes along with this town.. from the band to the cheerleaders to the dance team.. to the parents and people like my mom who go for the love of the game. if you happen to get to go to homecoming you’re in for a treat.. the past alumni are honored in a parade and there are competitions for different prizes for jus about everything from the high school students. visitation is something i consider worth goin back for each time.. mainly to see the changes and learn about the children of those people you remember from the playground.

erath was very hard hit from hurricane rita. many people are having to begin again, my family included. these are a hardy spritual people who’s faith can get them through just about anything out there.

it was like growin up in the 50’s.. except it was the 90’s. toliet paper parties are on thursday nites.. mainly before home football games.. there’s nothing like it.

there might be some worry about the future of new orleans but I can tell you that these are an amazing people and they will not go down without a fight. the news media has made a spectacle of many many things that went wrong.. but so much is right if not ok about what i consider to be my second home. after losing everything between katrina and rita i can tell you that the state of louisiana might have some work to do but this is the time to sit back, support us.. and then come visit.
