Hong Kong

Worth visiting!

Went on a whim when I was very young. First solo vacation. It was fun. Bought lots of gifts for my friends and family. Was very much a shopping destination. Since then, only been to HK in transit at the airport.

Lhasa

(in Tibet)

Worth visiting!

Loved it!

Been there twice, both times in 1995. Enjoyed myself thoroughly. Took a small group of European Travel Agents on the first trip. Accompanied a large group of 32 elderly Italian tourists the second time. My birthday fell on a day during the trip and they all showered me with gifts! Felt completely at home in Tibet.

Dharamsala

Worth visiting!

Beautiful. Been here with parents to visit friends and hear the teachings of the Dalai Lama. Years later, been here to visit college friend who was studying Tibetan Buddhism and language and who is now my loving husband. Nice little himalayan town and fun memories. Overnight bus ride from New Delhi to Dharamsala not quite so fun! Those who’ve done it will agree.

Panchgani

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Spent the formative years of my life at a boarding school in Panchgani. I know it is a changed place now and more crowded. At the time I was there, Panchgani was known for its picturesque locations (where many a bollywood song & dance sequence was filmed – especially where it involved the hero & heroine running around trees). Another thing this small town was well reputed for: English boarding schools which were originally started by the Christian missionaries during the British rule of India. Panchgani is a hill station, has beautiful hills and plateaus (table-lands), and a cool, mild climate.

Ajanta-Ellora Caves

Worth visiting!

went there a long time ago on a school-sponsored trip and being young, the focus was more on having fun with your friends than appreciating the history and architecture. Still, I am glad to have been there and the caves are quite amazing.

Pokhara

(in Nepal)

Worth visiting!

Beautiful place, been there many times… A few years ago I went on from Pokhara to Jomsom and then to Muktinath. Enjoyed a wonderful few days trekking all by myself and yet oh so happy – surrounded only by the spectacular Himalayan landscapes. Throughout my life, I am sure that somewhere in my heart I will continue to hear the call of the Himalayas!

Visited only once for a short trip and will go again another time. Was there during the winter and would prefer to visit BC and Victoria in the summer time.

just the right sized big city to live in – not too big, not too small….beautiful! And convenient access to the coast, mountains, and desert.
