Worth visiting!
How this place changed my life
I lived in Haiti for 4 years as a missionary – living and working in an orphanage in Deschappelles, Haiti which is in the Artibonite Valley (Central Haiti) The people are beautiful and so amazing and the landscape is gorgeous. I fell in love with the country and the people and when I moved back to Canada, a piece of my heart was left behind. I even met my husband in Haiti and was married there in November of 2006. I know that I will be back – we have family there and so many great memories. yes, there is poverty, garbage in the streets, riots, lack of electricity and many other problems, but when you are there with an open mind and an open heart, those kind of things don’t seem to matter as much. Sure I saw the garbage lining the streets everywhere, but that wasn’t my focus and so it didn’t affect my outlook of the country. It’s the people that make that country so amazing and worth visiting!
