khaosan Road was our first stopping place when we arrived in Bangkok, getting dropped of by the bus from the airport which gave us an interesting glimpse into the surrounding area and the heart of the city.

Khaosan is an interesting place to see, full of backpackers, street markets and vendors and people constantly trying to sell you something, or offer you a taxi or tuk-tuk ride. It’s worth stopping around there over night so you get to see if during the light, and dark and you’ll be able to pick up anything you might need for your time in Thailand so it makes a handy starting point. There is little point in buying clothing for a hot climate at home when it’s so much cheaper, and more interesting to buy locally.

I couldn’t see my self stopping around for more then a day or so however, as interesting as it is, the crazy flow of tourists and constant interest from locals trying to sell you something can lose it’s appeal very quickly, it’s a place to stop and settle after a flight out, use as a stopping point when traveling cross country, and somewhere to get some interesting presents for people back home on your way back to the airport to go home.

I have my tickets booked! So will be flying into Bangkok with a couple of friends on the 12th of March and hooking up the gang already out there.

So far I haven’t really given much though to what we will do when out there, mostly just going to wing it and follow the lead of the gals who will have been out there a couple of months by the time we turn up.

I can’t wait to get over there now, promises to be a pretty epic adventure for us all!
