Tomb of one of the greatiest poets of Iran – sufi Hafiz.
People coming to read his poetry in the surrounding space. Dating spot.
Stores around – local artistic works (carpets, traditional dools, clothings, and lot more).
I’m about visiting Egypt, esp. Cairo.
That’s why I’m going to read as much materials about it as possible.
So, I’ll make a virtual trip first – getting to know it from maps, books & on-line sources. And I will add some entries here, as my travel blog basics – hopefuilly they’ll be useful for some of you :).
Let me start with a small “did you know” fact, which is:
the origins of the name of Egypt’s capital city
Cairo was founded on the east bank (as head of Nile Delta) in A.D. 969. From a former Roman fort and an Arab settlement, Muslim invaders to Egypt from Tunisia created a city, and called it ‘El Qahira’ (the victorious). Western ears got their ‘Cairo’ from it.
