Madison

Worth visiting!

What I want to do at this place

I’m very excited to be living in Madison this summer. I’ve heard that it’s a wonderful city. I’m going to be working in the Astronomy Department at UW. While I am very excited about the project that I’m going to be involved with, I am a bit embarrassed that one of the facets of this opportunity which pleases me the most is that I won’t be working underpaid retail this summer.

If anyone has any suggestions for great places to visit, things to do, or things to see in Madison, I’d love some suggestions!

What I want to do at this place

I’m going! I’m going to be studying at the University of Bologna in the fall. I’m going to be there for the semester. Hopefully I’m going to be able to take some astronomy while I’m there.

I still can’t believe that I’m going.

Here for the month

I’m spending the month here. I think it’s going to work out well after this first weekend. I need to get a bit of a routine set into place, and learn how to cook (uh-oh). We’ll see how it goes.

Hermitage Museum

Worth visiting!

Not Enough Time...

I made it to the Hermitage three times while I was in St. Petersburg, which still wasn’t sufficient time to see everything. Yay for a student ID provided to me through my program which allowed me free admission anytime.

If you’re going to be in St. Petersburg, a trip to the Hermitage is well worth the visit, but give yourself at least a full day to investigate it.

Russia

(in Europe)

Worth visiting!

January in St. Petersburg

I spent January in St. Petersburg, and although before I signed up for the trip, Russia had never topped my list of “I have to go there” places, I would go back in a second. Interesting history, cool things to see and great people, it was a wonderful trip.
