Breaks Interstate Park, Breaks

Untitled by tinseltoes

me, a friend, my mom, my mom’s best friend and her daughter and exchange student decided to go sightsee the breaks before my mom’s friend’s birthday party. we had driven 12 hours for it. we started on a trail that must have been a difficult one because after about an hour we were walking on ledges and sliding in the mud and when we looked up all we could see were sharp cliffs. my mom and my friend were crying. they were both wearing long skirts and dress shoes! it took us 4 hours to find our way out. it started raining. we were very very late to the party. but it was fun! the best parts were finding caves and little orange salamander things that didn’t run when you picked them up.

Had just left a coffee shop and rented a bicycle. Just riding around enjoying the sights when out of the corner of my eye I think I see a woman standing barely clothed inside a window display like. Did a double take and my friend confirmed where we were. Hadn’t even realized I was there.

Very beautiful. Lots of character. Has an eerie silence looming overhead at dusk, made even better when the cathedral bells toll.

Sunderland, Tyne and Wear

Untitled by tinseltoes

I studied abroad here. I was worried when I first arrived. I got pelted by the bully neighborhood kids with snowballs everyday. My friend had a brick thrown though her dorm window. It was dirty. It was smaller than I expected.

but then… I got moved into a big house in the city center and another abroad friend transferred next door. Things were looking up. Sunderland has so many quirks that I miss so much now that I’m gone. I am planning a trip for next summer. It’s great being in a place that is similar yet worlds different from the US. It’s close enough to take the metro to newcastle, and you can take a bus or metro to the north sea or durham. It’s just great. I loved it.
