Lobby is nice but the rooms are verging on trashy. You definitely get a slight feeling of seediness from the hotel rooms. It’s an odd mix of nice things mixed with a seedy feeling. The lobby and restaurant is nice, the breakfast is GREAT, but the rest of the place is low class. The bed sheets were not soft but rather itchy. The “King” size bed was somehow smaller than a true king. There was NO fridge!! This caused us an excess of trouble as we couldn’t have fresh snacks in our room or even cold water bottles. The tap water was undrinkable and the coke/water machine in hallway didn’t work so obtaining drinking water was a real hassle!
The room had gross old windows with white stains blocking view and just an underlying appearance of cheapness. The 6th floor is extremely hot in summer so the hallways are stifling. Luckily the room A/C works well enough to combat the heat. The bedside phone was not working. The swimming pool is in a white room with so few windows that you feel like you are locked up in prison while swimming. The pool is surrounded by tile flooring that is extremely slippery. We witnessed two different kids fall down and they could have been badly injured had they not been so lucky.
This place would be fine if one needed an inexpensive, clean, safe place to sleep for a night. But if looking for a pleasing place to be on a pleasure trip this is not it. For a vacation worthy spot inside of Portland you’ll have to spend more or go to Jantzen Beach or somewhere else further from downtown. Parking is expensive ($12) but probably is like that anywhere in city center or downtown Portland.

This is certainly the coolest establishment in Bend, OR. They have a resaurant, an amazingly cool pub, a pool and smoking bar, a movie theater that serves food, beer, wine and liquor, a gorgeous roman bath with open skylight, a hotel, houses to rent, outdoor seating, outdoor fire pits to drink around, places to get married or have events/shows etc, and they have awesome micro-brewed beer, wine and liquor. The whole place is oozing with atmosphere with every inch covered in unique artwork and old relics from the old st. francis school that it used to be. It is on the old catholic school campus. Must see!

In pictures it looks like a gorgeous, lush green rainforest and parts of it are. But the interesting thing is the huge amount of diversity. There is the amazing coast line and it’s coastal range mountains, the valley with its lush forests and its farmland and wineries, the unique high desert just east of the Cascade Range and the desert- taking up nearly half the state.
So if you visit Oregon- look into all its different climates and terrains and choose the one that you like the best. Or see them all!
