So this place is not bad as places go, there’s some nice people, some bars, some churches, just a normal small american town. The nature’s nice, but you should never go swimming in the city, the sand has some disgusting goo. There’s a couple of factories in the city as well, and those who live on the north side have to live with an all pervasive odor as well as higher than legal mercury levels until they upgrade their equipment.

While it could be worse, there’s so much more to do in other places. The people can be rather conservative as well, but usually politely guard their views to themselves, resulting in even less fun.

Alpena fun city? Not really. Alpena cool city? Only officially. Looking for a place to hang out and watch TV? This is the city for you.

I lived here for a year on exchange to France. I wouldn’t recommend the Memorial but it’s a nice little town. I’ll definitely visit again for the people, but I doubt I’ll ever want to live there. The Memorial is boring, but if you do go along the cost the cemetaries and the leftovers of WWII are worth seeing.

I’ve been to Jersey, but I’d like to make it over to London.
