Meh, just another museum really. At least it’s free! (Or at the time I went there)

If Orson Wells ate 17 at one time, there must be something good about them than regular hot dogs!

Look people, to summarize: THE PLACE IS SMALLER THAN YOU’D THINK!
Jees, it’s not a theme park! It’s a run down old mission that was used as a last stand because it’s the only place Travis’s men could go. It’s NOT what the movies make it out to be. What other places are like that?? Please don’t go here because John Wayne was seen beeing blown up in it. Please don’t take your small kids here. Would you take them to the JFK Dipository Musuem in Dallas? Or a Holocaust Museum? No! Take them to Six Flags and let them learn Texan History there.
It’s a MUSEUM people. And not a very big one, but crowded at times. If you’re not an old softy for “Texan Independence” then avoid the lines.

I think it’s hilarious that I visted my grandfather in SA for over 25 years of my life, yet I only been to the Riverwalk and Alamo maybe twice, and then not until I was like 16 on a band trip! Kinda like Seattle’s Space Needle and the Center, or Pier 42 in San Francisco: natives never go there because they know better!
What people miss out on is the history AROUND the city, with beautiful missions in the quirkiest of places. I think the best places to go is the cemetaries. My grandmother is in one of the most beautiful in the state, where the original Heloise is entoumbed, with one of the oldest missions nearby.
Oh, PS, seek out a tamale factory!

I worked above this bar for over a year. Ahhh the smells. We had a going away party once inside “The Hen”. There’s a famous naked lady that’s painted on the wall in the game room. The new “nicotene lean-to” is funny, watching the one lonely smoker in the cold.
Every moring there would be the “regulars” waiting outside for the place to open before 9am. It’s very amusing to witness from the outside.

This is where I live! Very convenient, and you pay the price. People actually do run aorund the lake 27/7, rain or shine, snow or sleet, 365 days a year. I lived here for a year and NEVER seen a day or time without walkers & runners around the lake.
...Maybe I’ll move. Maybe I won’t.

Purty places (Santa Fe, White Sands), yet so underrated.

I went to Durango on a band trip and discovering what being in a foot of snow was like. I remeber alot of the locals wearing cowboy hats to which, being Texans, scoffed at. One student thought he got frost bite, and the paramedics told him he was just cold.
I also stayed in Denver when moving from Houston to Seattle. I remeber seeing a lot of “escort” ads in the yellow pages and everything emulating Old West whore houses. Almost every small town does really look like South Park!
A lot flatter that I thought it would be (East CO). Probably the best skiing on the continent.

I was here on a band trip in high school in 97… I think. I remeber it being grey and rainy (much like Seattle) and my first taste of Atlantic sea food, which was to die for after living with tiny Gulf of Mexico shrimp and crawfish in Houston.
