Noccalula Falls

Worth visiting!

It's lovely

I suppose it isn’t a big deal to people who have traveled a lot, but I was born in Gadsden and Noccalula Falls was the first “natural wonder” I ever saw.

I was entranced by the story about the Indian princess, of course. Even as a tiny child (3 or 4 years old – seriously) I had to make up my own ending, because the official legend is just too damned depressing and made it feel too much like I might be trapped there in Gadsden forever, too. I never told anybody else, so they couldn’t ruin it. In my version, Noccalula survived, thrived, and lived her own life, free to love whoever she chose.

I still like my version of the story, but I’m not a big fan of “romantic” suicide stories(or most suicide stories).

I’m hoping my daughter will share some of the photos she’s done of the Falls, as they are awe-inspiring.

New York City

Worth visiting!

Briefly

But I didn’t really get to be in New York in any real sense. I want a true visit, but I want to be pampered and have time to explore and go to shows.

Charleston

Worth visiting!

It was a honeymoon

My first wedding. Long, long ago! And, truly, my only honeymoon.

It was a fun trip, with lots of walking around a great city. I look forward to returning.
