I’ve been once – to the Canadian side. As a kid. With our family. It was pretty cool as a long weekend with a family. The boat ride, walking behind the falls, museum of “barrels”, these were all cool. More than a couple days though and it gets old fast.

as part of a father son road trip around SE New Mexico when I was in college. He was struggling with health problems that he thought were arthitus (but would be diagnosed a couple weeks later as bone cancer) but he gamely opted to do the full tour walking in at the natural entrance to the bottom and then taking the elevator out. It was the highlight of the trip and one of my fondest memories of him.

We didn’t have time to stay for the bat show in the evening – I’m told it is truly something to see. I will have to return and see it one day.

Great seaside area, nice beach, not too wavy so good for kids and swimming, and the water is fairly warm.

Go on – walk through the red light district, get it out of the way, and move on. Lots more to see and appreciate. Take a boat ride fer cryin’ out loud. Get a new perspective.

It is so pretty, and old, and full of history. I only had an afternoon and I would have liked to have had a week.

Live there. Seriously – try to go for at least a couple weeks and book a flat, not a hotel. Flats by the week can be had through http://nyhabitat.com among other places.

I went with my family when I was a kid. It was a good family outing, the duck rides were really cool. We visited on our way somewhere else. Not really a major destination – more of a side trip – like Niagra Falls.

It was New Years 2000 and I was hiding out from the Y2K on call duties. I had a blast, the country is beautiful, the people are fabulous, and there just wasn’t time to see it all. Rio must be one of the most beautiful cities of all time. I spent a lot of time in a small seaside resort town about 3 hours from Sao Paulo and it was very pleasant.

Although I think it takes a little while for the enchantment to kick in. I went to college there (NMTech) and lived there for 7 years. There is something magical about the clear air and high desert.
