it used to be a nice place but then it all went wrong. It’s now becoming the dumping ground for most of the NE of England’s wasters, druggies etc.
And for the record it’s CONWY not Conway!

Old Abbey – didn’t go in because it was too expensive but you can walk around the outside of it and take it its splendour.
Signal Museum on the beach front is free and the kids love it – tells you all the history about the old lighthouse and a bit about Arbroath’s fishing history.
You HAVE to try an Arbroath Smokie while you’re there. They are lovely.

Well they have a fab Christmas street market.
The beach is great and the basin has a wildlife sanctuary which is great if you either love birds or have young kids to entertain.
There is a great play park well its more of a massive sandpit with paddling pool right near the beach by the golf club.
All in all a nice place but the locals aren’t too friendly, not unfriendly but just they just don’t go overboard on the whole friendly vibe.

We camped there for a few nights. There had been a Tartan Army gathering which we caught the tail end of so spend our first night on the campsite with a crowd of them drinking till the early hours of the morning – fantastic!
Scenery is amazing. Good base for travelling out and about to the cairngorms etc.
Don’t expect much from the historic stone circle though – remember you have been warned!

for the scenery, the old copper mine up the Great orme, the tram rides, the nice beach, the falling down pier but definately not for the people. Unless you really really like old people. Not for the shops unless you really really like charity shops full of old people. And not for the night life unless…...

just for the sign. There isn’t much else there but a tweed mill and of course the poor locals who have to put up with all the English speakers trying to pronounce it. (Tip Welsh people call it Llanfair p g. I know cos I am one ;) )
