Georgetown

Worth visiting!

Quiet little town

If you’re heading west on I-70 out of Denver, Georgetown is the last place you pass before the Eisenhower Tunnel. Most people don’t even notice it’s there. My only complaint would be that it seems to suffer from neglect in some places. But it’s a lovely little town with some charming old shops and a couple of really great sandwich places. My wife and I have gone there pretty much every year sometime around the end of the semester, just to get a chance to relax. There’s an annual Christmas tree lighting and all-around bash that we somehow seem to always miss.

This photo is looking across the main street in town – some of the decorations are up, but it’s 5 P.M. on a Friday and pretty much everything is closed.

Thankfully, I wasn’t there for long.

Royal Gorge

Overpriced

Tourist trap from Hell. The canyon itself isn’t bad, but it’s not worth the money to go over the bridge.

Pikes Peak

Worth visiting!

Hiked the trail

A friend and I went up just out of high school – we didn’t take the road. It’s 7,000 feet of altitude gain in 12 miles, but it’s the only way to go.

Colorado Springs

Worth visiting!

Grew up here

I like the Springs, overall. I like other places in Colorado better, I think, but there’s something to be said for sitting at the foot of Pike’s Peak and seeing the Garden of the Gods out your window. The Balloon Classic is definitely worth seeing, too.

Not bad

Pretty nice, all things considered. Peaceful little town within short distance of some very active places, and some very secluded places.

Great atmosphere

I don’t understand why folks complain about the People’s Republic of Boulder! It’s such a friendly, vibrant place. I would love to live there.

Love every bit of it!

Okay, the Eastern Plains in small doses only.

Great place - if you like dirt, cows, and onions

It’s a wee bit too agricultural for my taste. In the Independence Day parade this year, one of the agribusiness companies drove a giant pesticide sprayer down the street blowing bubbles!

I can’t wait to leave.
