Georgetown, Colorado

Quiet little town

If you’re heading west on I-70 out of Denver, Georgetown is the last place you pass before the Eisenhower Tunnel. Most people don’t even notice it’s there. My only complaint would be that it seems to suffer from neglect in some places. But it’s a lovely little town with some charming old shops and a couple of really great sandwich places. My wife and I have gone there pretty much every year sometime around the end of the semester, just to get a chance to relax. There’s an annual Christmas tree lighting and all-around bash that we somehow seem to always miss.

This photo is looking across the main street in town – some of the decorations are up, but it’s 5 P.M. on a Friday and pretty much everything is closed.
