I’m not a city person, I rarely go, and I tend to not like it for the most part… however, if you’ve never been to manhatten, you ought to go. It’s one of the major centers of civilization. Highly multi-cultural, lively, entertaining, full of everything…

on the down side, it’s got a funky smell, which sticks to you… it’s not the best air to breath, even when your on the shore line, and of course where there’s many people there’s many germs… so better take one of those Airborne pills.

Definitely visit China Town, eat at Hop Kee, get some Bubble Tea. Go see a broadway musical (Phantom of the Opera is wonderful). Check out Central Park, Art Museums (particularly the Met and MoMa), and the science museums, and mini-galleries, and Greenwich Village. :}

And remember, if you’re gonna be a tourist, move off to the side to take photos or stop to look at something. :P Particularly if it’s during the rush hour. :}

Lots of bridges and homeless folk

I’ve never seen so many bridges in one place. It’s crazy! All of them lift for large boats crossing the river. If you can figure out which way the boats are traveling you can try to get to a bridge that’s not being lifted so you can cross. Fortunately I wasn’t driving, but otherwise I hear driving in the city really easy to figure out… basically the whole city is on a nicely layedout grid.

There’s a large homeless community there, most of which are some form of junkie, you will run into them frequently. Overall, everyeone seemed to be generally nice and helpful.

I visited a wonderful 4-story bookstore and some thrift stores (that were more expensive than thrifty). {shrug}

New York City

Worth visiting!

at least once...

I hate it though… :P sorry folks, I’m not one with the city.
Too many people, too much noise, too many other confused tourists, etc. It’s just too much for me to handle and keep sane. :P No wonder there’s a ton of crazy people walking around the streets there. :P

But well if you never been to the city, you should go at least once. Home to many historic attractions and contemporary and future… it’ll always be a place for tourism.

Woodstock

Worth visiting!

if you like hippies and punks and mostly hippy stuff...

The atmosphere is quiet a change from average life. It’s not the place where the concert is from, but it’s the place that the name of the concert was based off of. :P (Yasger Farms, I think that’s how you spell it, is where the ‘69 concert was… a long ways away)

Anyhow it’s great, just mind that there are some old school punks that don’t take kindly to tourists… but they don’t bother you if you’re not in their way. :P And anyway they are an entertainment/aesthetic attaction for some.

It’s a great place… definitely go when they have the fairs going on. It looks like a lot of junk, but it’s good stuff at extremely low prices. (Don’t expect the stores to be so cheap.)

Poughkeepsie

Not worth visiting!

that picture isn't from Poughkeepsie...

It’s actually Vanderbuilt Mansion, in Hyde Park…
unless there’s a place in Poughkeepsie by the river that somehow exactly resembles it.

Not biggie though… it’s not like it’s THAT far away from Pok.

btw… Pok is short for Poughkeepsie, according to a lot of secretarial notes.

Worth visiting!

next to Hyde Park

The Mills Mansion & Norrie Point Park are here… If you like rundown towns, it’s also a great place… Not far from the Omega Institute, right between Hyde Park and Rhinebeck. Not far from the Poughkeepsie stop on the Metro North Train Station

But don’t go too far out of your way… it’s an extremely small town. Most people in the area don’t even know it exists!
