Sighi?oara

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

I visited Sighisoara three times. The first time, outside the festival, with my parents, so I couldn’t make very much out of it. Still, I remember it was peaceful and quiet – I loved it. The second and the third time I went there, though, were some of the greatest weekends in my life. Yes, it was during the festival, in 2006 and 2007. I lived in a tent with some great friends (the third time, I went with a guy that became my boyfriend on the way there – we spent about 27-28 hours on the way because we wanted to go there by train, we stopped in three cities and changed five trains). The whole atmosphere is unbelievable, there are costumes and guitar players everywhere, the music is great, the people are lovely (thank god it’s in the same weekend with the Peninsula festival, because that keeps Sighisoara free from punkers) and it’s simply a bliss to lay all day on the grass listening to the guitar or inside Dracula’s House, drinking beer like there’s no tomorrow. :)

Sfantu Gheorghe

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

When a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to the Prometheus Folk Festival in Sfantu Gheorghe, I was a bit in doubt. Finally, I made up my mind and left from Neptun to Sfantu Gheorghe, with a very small backpack containing a skirt and two gipsy blouses, plus a towel and my bathing suit. I somehow managed to get to Sfantu Gheorghe all by myself (the way I got there in itself was an adventure) and it was in the village where I met my friend, who led me to the tent I was going to crash into. Mind you, I had nothing resembling a sleeping bag or anything, but my gorgeous friend had taken care of it all. So there I was, in the Danube Delta, for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, I only stayed there for about two days or so, but still I managed to see the greatest beach ever, the most beautiful sunsets in my life, I walked barefoot all day long through the village, I listened to some GREAT folk music and basically I filled myself with the outstanding atmosphere there. There must be something in the air – the people really are great, the sea is so friendly and the water is so warm.. I can’t wait for the next summer, I hope I’ll be able to stay there for the whole festival (8 days or so). But this time, I’m going to have my tent with me, and maybe drag along a few friends, because EVERYONE should see Sfantu Gheorghe.

Vama Veche

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

I could never believe there could be so much freedom, so much good music and so many wonderful people somewhere in Romania, but Vama Veche is certainly a paradise.
