I’ve spent quite a lot of time in and out of Amsterdam & Munich, and the Frites shop on Capitol Hill (10th and Pike) makes the best frites you’re going to find outside Europe.
Like the best European hole-in-the-wall shops, Frites has no sign, runs no ads, has no phone number, is open really late (2:30AM on weekends), and is packed daily by people who have heard about it by word of mouth.
There’s lots of sauces to compliment the frites which are made by the owner — but if you want a truly authentic experience, order the ‘middel’ cone size and ask them to just plop some mayo on top!
