Mount Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota

There's a little known secret...

It’s smaller than it appears! When traveling across country from Connecticut to Washington, we stopped for the morning at Mount Rushmore, and I was taken back by how small it appeared in person.

It was a great sight, and well worth the trip, but I couldn’t believe how well text books and photos psyched me out!

If you’re passing through, make the stop, but avoid the Crazy Horse Memorial – it’s greatly incomplete and not worth the dinero, if you know what I mean.

One other cool attraction was the Reptile Gardens (with the low hanging dangling boa that I walked into face first – I didn’t even see the blasted thing – good thing is was friendly). I have to admit, the Reptile Gardens has the coolest tribal-wood-carving-world-oriented-trinket (Jungle Outpost Tribal Art Gallery) store I’ve ever seen. They have many more items than what they show online, and I have to return JUST to buy an authentic didgeridoo ;)

Orlando, Orange County

Great when the trip is free!

I attended a 3-day conference in Orlando, and was lucky enough to spend my time at the Gaylord Palms Resort which was awesome! Very nice resort, self-contained with a ton of amenities…then on the final day, the entire conference (about 1500 folks I think) were treated to a closed-park, free reign night at Universal Studios Theme Park – that’s right: any ride, no lines, no fees, free food and a bag’o’swag fun.

I’d visit again if it was going to be a repeat of the above ;)

Las Vegas, Nevada

Cha-Ching

This one time, in Vegas…

I feel fortunate to say I’ve been to Sin City 3 times, and enjoyed it every time. I didn’t lose money (w00t!), visited all of the hotels (except the Wynn Resort, which is rather new), walked the strip and, and…well, you know the Vegas mantra. And I can only attest to actually staying over at Harrah’s and the Aladdin Casino which were both great (and not crazy expensive).

But seriously, it’s a great vacation, lots of fun, and I recommend going and having fun at least once in your life. At least once!
