Humboldt County Library, Eureka

Library hours past

I came one day to check out the library since I needed a book, so of course the place you would natuarly go would be the library, when I went though it became aparent that I should have called ahead because they were closed. I kept coming back and they always seemed to be closed in fact, after a while I realized they had forgotten to put up an under renovation sign up! Weeks later I did go into the library and promptly walked out after 20 minutes of browsing realizing that it was one of the lesser libraries I had ever seen, despite its attractive facade and exclusive hours. I will not be going back as the California State University Humboldt provides a library that is much better then your average library and does not require being in Eureka.

Humboldt County, Northern California

The North Coast is California too

I do not recomend staying in Eureka much but Huboldt is a large county and has a lot to offer. There are many trails if you feel like going outdoors (yes redwoods too), there are local instrument builders like myself, coastline in the north of the county that will leave you breathless. There are lots of coffee shops of decent quality, as for food though Arcata is the only place with really good food in the county, so be prepared to do some searching for food that is not trying to attain a new level of super veganism, unless that is your style. For shopping there are some antique shops that offer some nice products for reasonable prices, one can also look into the alturnative earth type of shops for some unique items but do not expect a great deal because they are not made with sweat shop labor and are certified 27 different ways for being “all natural” to the point you wonder if there doing it to hide something. This is another great spot to check out if you happen to wander up from southern California or down from Oregon on the illustrious 101/Route 1

Kennedy Center, Foggy Bottom

Untitled

Surely, the premier place to go if you want to watch theatre. I saw my first play here when I was a child, Shakespeare’s A MidSummers Night Dream Here I am years later working at a theatre and pursuing my degree in the illustrious field. I still remember the performance I watched though. It is something no one will ever be able to take away from me.
