I went to Sachsenhausen a little over two years ago and still can’t really grasp what it means.

The hardest part was when I went to leave and put one foot over the gate (“Arbeit Macht Frei”) and realised just how important it was that I could do this, but 60 years ago there was no leaving for anyone else.

I don’t understand the place, and it still comes back to me sometimes when I step through a doorway.

Go here, expect nothing but bricks and ruins…

So tired. So tired.

Dakar is pretty intense. Its hot and loud and messy and absolutely awesome. Seriously having trouble getting used to being back in the UK.

If you do head to Senegal, head further down the coast as well for beautiful days in a bit of peace.

I leave for Dakar tomorrow. I get to see some of Morocco on the way (well… the airport in Casablanca), but don’t get in until 2.30AM to Dakar, so am looking forward to a 4 hour wait until my Sister can come and pick me up.

Solo travel Scrabble?

Only passed through a couple of times on my way elsewhere in France, but a couple of beautiful afternoons by the Seine.

Went in summer so baked out on the water, but stunning. Excellent scenery and pretty much every type of outdoor activity nearby (paraglided into the town center, which rocked).

I’d recommend going ice wall / glacier climbing near the Jungfrau. It’s cold, but pretty intense.

Easily.

Beautiful, clean, peaceful, friendly people, awesome sights and lots and lots of rain.

Yeah, I live here too. Best to come when the sun’s out, and hit the Center of town.

Lots of events happening this year (film festivals, digital art events, music etc) though a big rebuild of parts of the city means there’s lots of scaffolding to walk into!
