Madison

Worth visiting!

my future home...

This clean, down to earth, and friendly city is a nice break from hectic urban life, even though it is a small city itself. It’s lake does not seem as polluted as Lake Michigan in Chicago but has a delightful path that wraps around it. A nice variety of nightlife, women’s clothing stores (reasonably priced yet cool), and we enjoyed staying at the Gillman Street B&B. They have a lovely blue and white room with queen bed that is uuber comfy.

Oak Brook

Worth visiting!

my hometown

It has lots of trees, man-made lakes, pretty houses and a comprehensive mall. And most of the people who live here are nice.

Ice Hotel

Worth visiting!

So amazing!

There was a room where the bed posts were shaped like turrets of a castle! I was blown away by the details, especially the arm chair, stand, and lamp that shaped from ice. Also, I went in Jan. 07 and there was this fun ice slide to go down. Highly recommended!

Ben & Jerry's Factory

Not worth visiting!

eh

We went in the dead of winter. Although the free ice cream samples were deeelicious (baileys and chocolate) and out of this world fresh, the tour was only three rooms: a 7 minute movie (without Ben and Jerry actually speaking in it), a room full of ice cream making machinery (sorta boring), and a sample room painted in color. The hallway with memorabilia was interesting, but not worth the few extra hours it takes to get to this out of the way place.

Longwood Gardens

Worth visiting!

very beautiful

If you’re a fan of botany (flowers, palm trees, cactuses, bonsai trees), then definitely stop here. Even my boyfriend enjoyed this place. The mansion of Pierre Du Ponte also has a gorgeous sun room, and they have some pretty lights strung up around the holidays.

There’s only one downfall: overpriced, mediocre cafeteria food.

Bruce Peninsula

Worth it just by a smidge. It had beautiful sunsets and I liked its unique beaches - think: very shallow for about 10-12 feet out. Highly reccomend the B and B: Haven on the Bay as they have cozy accomodations and fabulous, yummy breakfasts. Appreciated the clean air, but wished the campsite paths were more well lighted. A true outdoorswoman/man might know of a better, closer, and natural area with more to do, and not think much of another area out in nature, but a city person yearning for the great outdoors (like myself) maybe would be slightly more impressed.

However, the downfall was that it was a pain to drive to. And watch out for mosquitos. I found myself missing the cultural variety in people, restaurants, and nightlife a city offers.

My boyfriend and I went here on the Canadian side, and I delighted in seeing all the diverse people around us visiting. We had just come from the rural countryside and it was great to be in a place buzzing with activity, picture taking, and such :)

New England Aquarium

Worth visiting!

The penguins were awesome. They were on an island where you could observe them, and there was an indoor moat surrounding where they were. The aquarium employees got to feed them and swim around with the penguins. Adorable for sure! I wanted to hop on down there!

The sea lions swimming around were adorable. I enjoyed the Aquarium, too! :)

It was interesting and chilling to see all the painted wall murals of Catholicism vs. Protestants, the barbed wire, and the glorious/elegant capital building with its dome. I felt safe, as I only saw a few police tankers cruise around. I think the “danger” of this place is overhyped.
