New York City, New York State
Selective deafness
I don’t think New Yorkers can hear you when you talk to them, unless you really get in their faces. An effect of living in such close proximity to a million neighbors?

about 1 month agoOr at least that’s the guise it wears in December. I took Little Girl out on Long Island for a day of sightseeing after I couldn’t take NYC anymore.
We stumbled across Sayville. It has a park with playground that butts up against the ocean. The sign says it is for townspeople only, but the parking lot was empty when we arrived. So we parked and played for a bit.
Driving back to the highway, I puttered through downtown. It looked thoroughly charming, but the notion of wrangling a crabby Little Girl out of the car for a not-quite-wanted lunch didn’t appeal to me. If I find myself in NYC again, I’d like to go back.
about 1 month agoI think I was the only person here in late November. The gate was closed, so I parked on the road and walked in. Very quiet. Very peaceful.
