Went here with two friends in College for a few days during spring break, on a road trip in a beat up classic Mustang that barely got us there … and broke down on the way back. We all had a blast on the beaches, seeing London Bridge, touring shops, etc. Come to find out Lake Havasu is the spring break destination (see, I’m a trend setter!) :D

went here as part of high school church choir trip. AWESOME place to visit. Will never forget the beautiful colors, trickling streams and amazing cliff dwellings.

Even though I’ve only had a little time on a couple of occasions to explore, this is a fantastic city, lots to see, lots of US history obviously, amazing outdoor art, and of course the cheesesteaks. Wandering around near city hall is just great. Hoping to go back and make a real vacation of it.

I’d walk a mile in a blizzard for those smoked meat sandwiches… err… actually we did just that!!

Our hotel was here. Great area to stay in and tour on foot!

See the light show at night! I think you’ll end up quite pleased you did even if you may not think you will in the first part of the show.

This is THE place to get the world famous “Smoked Meat Sandwich”. Well, my wife and I stepped out of the hotel to find ourselves in the midst of a heavy snowfall—we went during Christmas time (we like to travel to places in winter to save money). We trudged through several inches of snow to arrive at the metro station, got off at a stop, and trudged uphill in blizzard conditions, freezing our tails off in the windy, icy weather and finally arrived. Despite all this, somehow those sandwiches were worth the effort … and I dream of them often…

Tucson native, lived here 23 yrs before moving up to Denver. I’m back usually every year or two to visit family. Happy to help anyone find the good restaurants, etc.

It’s a great place, feels like a little town, avoid it from about May – late Aug unless you like > 100° weather. :) Perfect in March/April for spring. Anyway, lots of rich, Hispanic and Native American cultural influences.

The views of the desert in e.g. Saguaro Nat’l Monument or out west on the way to Old Tucson / Desert Museum are pretty amazing. Lots of great destinations in and near. Can’t miss “The White Dove of the Desert” San Xavier Mission. Sabino Canyon is great for hiking.

Also lots to see within a couple hours’ drive. If you can possibly see Karchner Caverns (reserve way way ahead of time) it is a must see.

And of course there’s the Sonoran Mexican style food. No place better for it, I think.

If you’re into multi day camping and four wheeling expeditions, this is a fantastic destination. Plan on 2-3 days, and reserve campsites far in advance. Best time to go is late Mar thru late Apr (when I always go) or perhaps Oct – late Nov (so I’m told.

Beautiful overlooks, not too hard wheeling, and a definite feeling of remoteness as there are a limited number of people allowed in to camp. Opportunities to hike to indian ruin, and much more. Have done this one several times.

I guess I have to admit we went because of Ghost Hunters. :) Have been twice now. I like the hotel overall, very nice grounds, rooms are pretty nice, has the flavor of a nice, old, Colorado mountain hotel (and I’ve stayed in several). Haven’t seen any ghosts :) But definitely take the ghost tour if you’re into that. It is pretty fun.
