Quay, Circular Quay

Fine dining at its best

My first and most recent experience at this restaurant was just absolutely faultless.

The food was incredible, with the workmanship that is involved with preparing and presenting the food clearly evident when each dish comes out. I would recommend the four-course a la carte menu as it allows you to sample a variety of different flavours and textures.

The restaurant is situated upstairs in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, so it has magnificent views overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The service is friendly but not intrusive, and they go to great lengths to ensure that you have a great experience. For instance, they reserved taxis for us when our meal ended; however they were taking so long to arrive that the wait staff were down on the road trying to flag taxis down for us! Truly going beyond what was required.

Despite what may look like high prices, the workmanship that goes into each dish definitely makes it worth every cent. My experience there was just so memorable that I’m looking forward to going again.

Iceberg's Dining Room & Bar, Bondi

Untitled

To be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed at the food when I came here for the first time. I felt that I overpaid for a meal that was frankly nothing special, and the service was slightly abrupt.

Having said that though, the fitout of this place is crisp and fresh and the views over Bondi Beach are just absolutely spectacular. I am keen to go again to see whether I just caught it on an average day. If anything though, it’s worth it just for the breathtaking views.

Becasse, Sydney City

Restaurant of the year

This restaurant won the Good Food Guide’s Restaurant of the Year for 2007 and it definitely deserves the title. The service is warm and friendly, not pretentious at all, and food is just magnificent. The main course I had, the roasted Bangalow pork belly with calves sweetbreads was just so memorable.

Great wine list also.
