Museum Of Fine Arts

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I try and go to as many art museums as possible when i travel. i went to the MFA 2 out of the 4 days i was in boston… the first day i was there, i saw an Egyptian sculpture that i had only seen in books and i was in awe- i think the security guard thought i was crazy because i stood and stared at every angle and smiled…

their Asian art collection is also amazing and well worth the visit if you’re into that!

The Globe Cafe

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I used to live in Christchurch, an American abroad, and I absolutely fell in love with the Globe- delicious flat whites and a salmon benedict to die for. I miss it!

Townsville

Worth visiting!

Untitled

My mom has had a pen pal from Townsville since she was 15 years old. When I was 15 or so, I was lucky enough to go and visit this friend.

Café Sabarsky

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I am in the coffee business and have always wanted to visit a Viennese-style coffee house. Cafe Sabarky was wonderful- their tortes and espresso served on a small silver tray are amazing. It was a total treat!

I would like to go back

When i was in london, the globe was just being rebuilt- i would like to go back and see it finished. My family and i donated some money and have our names there. it would be nice to see that.

Musée D'Orsay

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I was pretty young, about 15, and was overwhelemed by the fact that so many of my favorite artists were housed in one place. i have been to many major art museums since, but this was a memorable first… turning a corner and seeing my favorite Gauguin painting and nearly fainting is a cherished memory.

Punakaiki

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Though the Pancake rocks are pretty cool, i highly recommend spending time tramping in Paparoa National Park, and spending time on the beach- the sunsets are spectacular and the roughness of the Tasman Sea makes the beach capable of lulling any kind of worry right out of your mind!
i’ve been to Punakaiki 4 times, and i’ll keep on going!

Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I was blown away by how different it was from any landscape i had seen before (I had never seen a glacier before). But then, after i had taken that feeling in and was sitting on the steps of the Hermitage, i was approached by some retired folks from America- turns out they lived w/in 5 miles of my home town!

Sumner

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

I few years ago, i was living in Redcliffs and working at Sumner School. I had moved to New Zealand from America and was lucky enough to fall into the flow of this sea-side town. i miss it and wish i was still there! and i still snicker when i say “shag rock”...
