Decent food, okay drink menu, nice open air setting…good for a bite to eat before you start the night…better troughs to drink from though.

Cafe Bambino

I love this little place. The coffee is good, the people are nice, and best of all, its not yet been discovered by the masses…thus, you can have your coffee in peace. Shhhh…lets keep it a Ballard secret!

Seattle Asian Art Museum

Worth visiting!

Untitled

To inaugurate my quest to visit every museum in seattle, I spent some time at Seattle Asian Art Museum. The docent led tour of the Orchid Pavillion Gathering and Ch’ung-ho Chang Frankel exhibits was excellent. I want to go back and spend much more time here.

Good vegan fare

Delicious vegan comfort food. Service is spotty sometimes. Weekend evening crowd has a good vibe. And, for comfort food, it is a bit on the pricey side but not as egregious as Carmelita.

Great Veg Sushi and Other Japanese Fare

Excellent selection for vegetarians and vegans. Chefs are very creative and attentive …they made the vegetarian bento box and special mushroom saute vegan for us. Besides sushi, the likely suspects – miso, udon, soba – are available. Appetizers are fantastic with plenty of vegan options. Go early to avoid wait. I want to try one of everything.

When i lived in dc, i must have eaten here every weekend…this was before i adopted a plant based diet. food is very good, there is a festive atmosphere. chips and salsa are the best i’ve ever had. i used to get the chimichanga and margaritas are excellent as well. there is a nice outdoor area for warmer weather that affords ample people watching opportunities. its just up from the cathedral.

Petra

(in Jordan)
Untitled

I saw a story on Petra a year ago and the images portrayed have hung in my psyche since. A friend recently expressed interest in visiting Petra…once again bringing this mysterious place back into the fold.

Beautiful green hills

and seriously laid back communities. Lots of granola types, which I think is great. Interesting history too. I’ve been a couple times to visit family and would go again even though family no longer lives there.

Timeline

I’m planning a trip for spring 2007…delayed 1 year because of our move from hawaii to seattle. Rome for a few days, then Perugia to see my husband’s family, Florence (can you spend too much time here?),and then finish in Venice.

I want to go back

I went on business and want to go back. Beautiful city with great food and shopping. Interesting architecture and history. Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatrez are neat to see. Took the cable car and checked out MOMA. Walked the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral—very cool! SF deserves a lot more time to appreciate…plus, I’m dying to go to Herbivore…yummy.
