The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Venetian

Home to the very popular Blue Man Group, this hotel has a clouded ceiling that makes many people run into others because it is so mezmerizing. All along through the inside, trailing down the shops is a canal in which you can take a gondola ride. There are many shops in the Venetian for every taste. Restaurants are also found here as well. The Blue Man Group is a very entertaining show (which I’ve also seen) and I highly recommend it. If you get a chance, walk to the big square ground and try to find the man painted all in white: he barely moves a muscle, and it’s quite fascinating ;)

Wynn Las Vegas

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Wynn

This hotel is fairly new, having opened in April of this year. It has been quite a success with it’s wonderful international restaurants, it’s magnificent floral touch inside, it houses Steve Wynn’s personal private collection of art (that boasts paintings from artists such as Renoir, Manet, Monet, Degas, Andy Warhol and more), there is a Ferrari/Maserati exhibit where you can view the high-priced vehicles (and purchase one if you’ve got the wallet to!), and it is home to shows such as the Broadway Musical “Avenue Q”, which I’ve seen and found very amusing. I recommend this show to anyone who wants a fun time, and this hotel to anyone as well.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Mandaly Bay

The Mandalay Bay is home to many famous restaurants. It boasts some of the best cuisines in town, from Chinese, to Italian, to good old American. Rum Jungle is a favorite of mine, and it also becomes a nightclub after 10pm. There are several shops as you walk around, and it is home to shows as well. I’m not sure if it’s still open, but they used to have an aquarium people could visit and see dolphins swimming and performing tricks.

Caesar's Palace

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Forum Shops

The Forum Shops are found inside Caesar’s Palace. Caesar’s boasts shops that include Abercrombie & Fitch, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Guess, and many, many more. At the end of the shops is a big stage with animated Greek gods that perform a show every so often. They sit above a large aquarium with live fish of all sorts. There are also restaurants within the shopping area. Caesar’s also boasts an arena/concert hall where many events have taken place.

Bellagio Hotel and Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Bellagio

The Bellagio is one of Vegas’ most beautiful hotels. Walking into the shopping area of Bellagio, one can find famous designer stores such as Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Armani, Prada, and many others. It is famous for the water/light show that plays along with music. It is full of color and wonderful restauraunts.

Luxor Hotel and Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Luxor

This place is fun. It’s very unique. It’s created in the Egyptian style. The actual pyramid is the hotel itself. At the top is a brigth light that can be seen from satellites in space. Along the edges of the pyramid are more lights that move up and down, mostly for an optical illusion to amuse people. It is a host of many show and is currently playing the Broadway Musical “Hairspray”, which I’ve seen and highly recommend. It’s a fun, upbeat show for people of all ages =)

Aladdin Resort and Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The Aladdin

The Aladdin was rebuilt a few years ago. Since it’s been rebuilt, there have been a lot of things added to it. It’s most famous for the “Desert Passage”, an array of shops of all kinds. Events are also held here.

Las Vegas

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: I live here.

Yep, I live in “Sin City”. Lived here for over 15 years. It’s not all the fun and games everyone always makes it out to be, but it’s a great place. There’s plenty to do here: movie theaters, bowling, parks, restaurants, etc…everything you’d find elsewhere. And yes, there are HOUSES here.

Las Vegas is basically a big “valley”; down in the middle is what we call “The Strip”, which is on Las Vegas Boulevard. Here you’ll find all the major casino/hotels. And no, not everyone that lives here is a stripper or works at a casino. We’ve got plenty of other jobs here too!
The I-15 Freeway takes you into what’s called the “Spaghetti Bowl”, a big soup of freeways that intertwine and take you different places around the city and elsewhere. The US-95 takes you to the edges of the city, and up into the community Summerlin. Summerlin is a master-community created by Howard Hughes that encompasses a large region of Northern Las Vegas with many sub-communities and houses. There are ample high schools including magnet schools and performing arts schools, a state college, and the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).

Vegas weather is somewhat unpredictable. It can be over 100 degrees one day, and the next it’ll be windy and in the 70s. Winters are generally quite cold though it never reaches below 30 degrees (usually). It snows up in Summerlin very rarely, and not very much when it does. Rain here isn’t very common, and it usually doesn’t rain for long periods of times. There are no real natural disasters in Vegas; no hurricans, no tornadoes, not really any earthquakes (though small ones may occur rarely). Summers get VERY hot, upwards of 110 degrees most summers. Springtime is nice, and fall is nice.

Vegas is a good place. For living? It’s cool. I don’t recommend living here your whole life, but hey, that’s what I’ve done and I’m only one person =) I want to move away from here eventually, but for the time being, I’ve got college to look forward to! UNLV here I come!
