Quiet, orderly, expensive, beautiful beaches, glorious weather good coffee, lots of passing travellers. Only about 4 people on the beach.

Memories of beachside tavernas, friendly fish and long days on the beach with usually a dog in attendance and a donkey not far away. This was in the early 1980’s. I would love to know what its like now… Stayed at Villa Sophia and across the road was Villa Ella Pienaar.

Pretty organised kinda town somewhere between Cairns and The Whitsundays… There’s Magnetic island, good birdwatching and a 27 hole golf course. And a military base. Head further south to Airlie Beach if you are looking for more action. Mission Beach south of townsville makes a nice stop if you are into very orderly picturesque places.
