A place with stuff.
I was born and raised here. It’s a big enough city with most things everywhere else has, just in case you get homesick. There’s a pretty good downtown scene with a strip of bars. If you’re ever there, pick up an Alibi. It’s the only paper worth reading. And go to the Frontier on Central, across from the University bookstore. Knock around Nob Hill. Natural Sounds is a pretty good record store and a couple doors down, Flying Star has great desserts/sandwiches/magazines/atmosphere. In October there’s the balloon fiesta which is an event to experience. Some people get really jazzed about it and love getting up at 4 in the morning and fighting the crowds. But it is pretty cool to be around all the giant balloons. My parents and sister live there. If you want to meet them, let me know.
