Twice
I’ve been there twice that I can remember. The first was for Fourth of July ‘04 and the other was in the spring of ’05. The first time I went there was with some friends and my (now) ex boyfriend. We watched the fireworks from the lake shore (beautiful), went to the Taste of Chicago, to the Green Mill to listen to some Jazz, and to the Signature Room for drinks. We stayed downtown and I really would recommend it because not only is the view beautiful from most hotels, but the money saved parking (if you have a car) and walking or taxiing everywhere is worth the hotel costing a little more. We also took a ride on the el just for the fun of it. I was lucky to be traveling with people who really knew Chicago, because I saw the best stuff.
The second time I went we stayed with friends of my traveling partner in Lincoln Park. Most of our time was spent shopping, eating, drinking, or hanging out at my friends’ house. It was a very relaxed but fun trip, and I had several great nights out seeing Lincoln Park. Oh, by the way, I would recommend eating at Chicago Pizza And Oven Grinders. MMmmmmm.
