Cause of Karen Blixen actually…

Had a weird experience there…

Maybe not really worth visiting if you’re not 50 or above, but it’s where I come from. And it’s kind of cozy.

I was there a few years ago, and I got this guide who presumably excavated the thing without being an archeologist and had big plans on how to turn this into a money machine, just as soon as there was a real road leading to Phonsavan. He also had some magnificent stories about the place which are hard to forget. I wonder how it worked out for him…

Several years ago I was staying at a beduin camp for a week and I had a real cold. While my friends were out on safaris and stuff I was left sitting at the camp, and soon became friends with the beduin owners. Most belongings they had at the camp were gifts they recieved from guests, and usually consisted of stuff like quirky masks, funny music tapes and weired toys, which we used to play with. It was like being five years old again. but fun.

I want to go here for christmas…

In Ürgüp: Alfina is a really nice cave hotel and Sofra is the restaurant with the best prices and the greatest food, and nice owners (but they are no interior decorators…)

I was 19 and for two eventful weeks squatting a house opposite Hilton at the beachfront. Isreal is the most vibrant country and two weeks in Tel Aviv might be like half a year in any other capital, at least it was for me.

...but don’t go here in February. I’m freezing to death right now.

but got sick before I had a chance to see Praha.. :-(
