St. Simons Island
Not worth it!
News about this place — 1 year ago
Saint Simons as listed in the travel pages has been misrepresented. What they describe may reflect what the island was like forty yesrs ago. The island has become an overgrown city. The traffic will rival anything a big city has. People are rude and could care less about the enviroment. All of the new residents came looking for that “bit of heaven” and have done nothing but contribute to the destruction of what was once an enviromental treasure. Since most of the Georgia coast has been protected this island has become the sacrificial lamb of the developers. The place is infested with skalawags from southern cities, yankee trash and carpitbaggers. They each have had a part in the destruction of traditional island communities. It is funny that so many new developments on the island are gated. It must be a way of protecting heaven. One must wonder what they are keeping out. So when you visit try to imagine what the island must have been like when kids never wore shoes and the pier was wood. By the way the light turned so you can go…beep beep.
