I lived in QC for the first 17 years of my life. I decided to stay behind even when my parents moved to the province when I was fifteen. Still get to visit our old place every now and then.

I don’t really remember how old I was. My grandfather was the school superintendent during the 80s to early 90s. We used to visit him for vacation and if there were any events, like fiestas, or the Palarong Pambansa.

As a child, I knew about the island because I could see it every time we go to the beach. Growing up, we called it “the small white island near Lolo’s beach”. It wasn’t until I was grown up and done with school did I get to visit it. Which was odd, considering that it was only a few minutes away from our house.

The island is small, but the perfect place to spend the day in if you want to relax. It’s undeveloped, so don’t expect any amenities. You have to bring your own stuff (food, etc), and bring them with you when you leave. Potipot island is also a favorite resting spot for the fisherman. It doesn’t take more than an hour to walk the entire perimeter of the island. Small and rustic as it may be, it’s still a wonderful place to visit.

Probably one of the most underrated provinces in the Philippines, Zambales is a treasure trove of pristine beaches, peaceful countryside and the sweetest mangoes you could ever find! My paternal grandmother’s family has lived here for years, and ever time I’m free, I hop on the bus to home. I’ve been going back and forth Zambales all my life, but I haven’t even fully explored all of it.

Visitors will be amazed at the beauty of the towns, as well as their rich history. Quite a number of historical and political figures hail from this province, as well as alot of artists and musicians.
